Remember if you need the Sim Card for VPN access to remove and re-insert again after killing the pid before you launch your active Winodws VM or you will get an error indicating it is missing and you will have to reset it. What ever method you choose just make sure to remove the ActiveSync or USB card, kill the process and Fusion will load normally. If the_pid is not "" then do shell script ("sudo kill -9 " & the_pid) Set the_pid to ( do shell script "ps ax | grep " & (quoted form of app_name) & " | grep -v grep | awk ''") I created a temporary Apple script that I could assign to a hot key: Altenately you can use the Termanal and/or use the following: Locate the pid (process id) called PCSCD and Force Quit the process. Workaround: Open the Activity Monitor and set to show All running processes after you wake the computer. This is a bug and been reported to the developer team and hopefull we will se an update that fixes this issue soon. Once you kill the PCSCD process Fusion will allow any VM to load and Run. An example, if you select Show in Finder from the Login Items list under System Preferences -> Users and Groups, it just doesn’t work. To fix the issue I have to go to Activity Monitor and locate the process and kill it. I know that this is a long-standing problem but it is still happening in 1.11.3 under macOS 10.14 Mojave. If the process call PCSCD is still running after the Mac resumes from sleep mode this causes Fusion to hang. When the card is inserted into a USB port a root process begins or is loaded called PCSCD. To do my work and connect via VPN I am required to insert a ActiveSync SIM USB card when I am running Windows 7. Working with the technical support team we have identified the issue. Having to reboot my Mac every day to make Fusion run is becoming a real pain!Īnyone with ideas's would be most helpful.Īfter several weeks of working this issue we finally have some answers. I am not able to find any information from the forums or search's that might explain what is causing this issue or how to resolve it. So I am forced to reboot the system so I can regain control of Fusion and my VM's. I can kill all the processes and it still will not run. When the MAC Pro does go to sleep for the day/evening and I return to my next work session Fusion refuses to let any VM start. I use screen saver mode so I don't have to constanly type my password to get back in to my work VM. I run many different VM's for work and development with my primary being Windows 7 for work.ĭuring my work day my power settings are set to sleep only after 3 hours of non-activity and 1 hour for screens. I am running Fusion 4.1.1 and have no isues with the software. This machine replaced an older 2010 Mac Pro (purchased in July 2011) that had many issues and Apple finally just replaced the whole box. The boot drive is a OWC 250GB SSD Running Lion 10.7.3. I have a new (purchased in Jan 2012) late model 2010 (5,1) Mac Pro with 2.8 Quad, 24 GB OWC RAM and 6TB of drive space with my VM's running on 120GB SSD.
